Apples with cheese and honey
This is a simple yet elegant dessert. Baked apples develop a rich aroma that goes perfectly with creamy cheese and the subtle sweetness of honey.
Ingredients
4 servings
4 large Red Jonaprince apples
150 g cream cheese or goat cheese
3 tablespoon honey
50 g walnuts
1 teaspoon cinnamon
a few sprigs of fresh thyme (optional)
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
Hollow out the cores from the apples, leaving the fruit whole.
Place the apples in an ovenproof dish and bake for 25–30 minutes, until soft.
In the meantime, chop the nuts and mix them with the cinnamon.
Fill the baked apples with cream cheese, sprinkle with nuts and drizzle with honey.
If you’re using thyme, garnish the dessert with it just before serving.
Serve warm as a light dessert or with your afternoon coffee. The contrast between the sweet apples, the distinctively tasting cheese and the crunchy nuts makes this dish exceptionally flavourful and impressive.
